Seat Sale for Labor Day 2012: Cebu Pacific and Air Philippines

Monday, April 30, 2012 Category : , , , 0

Tomorrow, May 1, is Labor Day, and, there's going to be seat sales for both Cebu Pacific and Air Philippines.  Yay!  Totoro-line wave!

UPDATES:
Cebu Pacific's promo has a 90% off on the base price of their domestic and regcional flights.  It means, the fuel surcharge remains the same.  So, a roundtrip ticket to Incheon will still yield an almost Php 7,000.00 price.  Promo period is from May 1 to May 2; travel period is from September 1 to December 15.
As for Air Philippines, their P1 fare refers to the base fare as well and it covers flights from Cebu and Clark, and Php 288 base fare for their Manila outbound flights.   Promo period is from May 1 to 3; Travel period is from May 16 to July 31.

     Cebu Pacific posted this teaser:

On the other hand, Air Philippines tweeted this:

So, it's possibly an 80% off from Cebu Pacific perhaps for flights until December or even beyond, and Php 1.00 base fare for Air Philippines' domestic flights.  Most likely, both seat sales shall commence at 12 midnight.

Good luck and happy travel planning!

Seat Sale: Air Philippines' Buy One Take One Promo

Thursday, August 11, 2011 Category : , 0

Air Philippines is having a seat sale promo, BUY ONE TAKE ONE on ALL DESTINATIONS EXCEPT FOR CATICLAN and BUSUANGA.  Promo period is from 12 August 2011 to 14 August 2011.  Travel period is from 15 January 2012 to 31 March 2012 and 15 June 2012 to 15 July 2012. Free tickets must be redeemed on or before 28 August 2011.  The free tickets are exclusive of taxes and surcharges, BTW.

I am still trying to figure out this promo, that is, if I'm going to make a huge savings or not, but I'll make updates later.

UPDATES:
I've tried mock booking for January 27 to 30, 2012, MLA to SG, roundtrip.  My total for one ticket is almost Php 9,000.  So, if I exchange it for a free ticket, I'd pay the following for taxes and surcharges, amounting to Php 3,211.00, for the free ticket:
Pax Service Chrg  483.00
Pax Security Serv Chrg  278.00
Aviation Levy  212.00
Fuel Surcharge  2126.00
Service Fee Charge 112.00
I say so because the promo states: "Free ticket is EXCLUSIVE of Taxes, Fees and Surcharges and will be collected from the passenger."  And the following fees are included on the "paid" ticket as per Air Philippines mock booking I made.

So, if your ticket costs a total of, say Php 6987.00 for MLA-SG roundtrip for 22 June to 25 June 2012 travel, with fare base for Php 1,888.00 each way, add up the SURCHARGES and TAXES amounting to PHP 3,211.00, you'll end up paying for  Php 10,198.00 for both the "paid" and the "free" tickets, or for about Php 5,099.00 per person.  It's not really a bad deal, but it's also not a great deal.  I think a Php 5,099.00 RT tickets to Singapore is fair, considering that Air Philippines has free baggage and their terminal is at Terminal 2 of Changi Airport.  However, I also think that for a booking that you will probably use, at the very least, four (4) away, or up to eleven (11) months away, it's a little more than I expected.  See, I bought my MLA-SG tickets from Air Philippines last January for a June/July booking for just Php 3,000.00 per person.

Anyway, here are the details from the AirPhils website:

Buy One Take One PROMO.

Air Philippines' Seat Sale - MLA to SG (10 July to 11 July 2011)

Saturday, July 9, 2011 Category : , 0

Air Philippines has a seat sale for their Manila to Singapore flights starting today until tomorrow!  Travel period is from 20 July to 30 August 2011.  I made a mock booking and it's almost Php 6,600.00 round trip per person.  The base fare is really low but the fuel surcharge, taxes and fees make the amount a lot bigger.  However, the flights are for July and August, and the fare is not such a bad deal.  Although there is the possibility that you might get cancelled flights because its our typhoon season now.

Speaking of their seat sale for Singapore, I've ridden with Air Philippines during my 30 June to 04 July 2011 Singapore trip.  I bought the tickets for Php 2,950.00, round trip.  And mind you, Air Philippines' flights to Singapore and back are way better than Cebu Pacific.  For one, Air Philippines lands and departs at Terminal of Changi Airport.  Imagine that!  Cebu Pacific, Tiger Airways and Air Asia (I think), land at the Budget Terminal.  And I've taken Cebu Pacific twice to Singapore.  And the Budget Terminal's really budget-looking.  I remember we had to board down the plane via stairs (at least I experienced walking down the tarmac), even if it was raining.  And there was no airconditioning once you get inside the platform going to the terminal premises inside.  I don't know if there is one now.  Also, there's nothing much to do at the Budget Terminal, unlike at the main terminals of Changi Airport.  The Budget Terminal has a double meaning slogan, and I'm not sure if its the same now.  It's something like, Budget Terminal, Feel the Difference.  Yup, we really felt the difference.

So, thank God for Air Philippines because I wanted to feel different!  Heehee.  However, I wish that they's try to sell more sale tickets on sale considering that they have not even filled up both flights I was in.  We were just around 50 to 80 on both flights.  At least, they should make their marketing strategies stronger.
